Homework coming home

Greetings Parents,
Last week you should have seen an assignment come home with your student from the music room. This was a summative assessment and a chance for your child to show what they have learned this year in music. The pitches of Sol and Mi as well as the rhythms of quarter note, two-8th notes, and quarter rests were to be used and students needed to create a song that they could then sing for me in class. A second part of this assessment was putting the song onto the staff lines and then trading papers with another student to practice being a "real musician" and reading the notation.

Please Do the following:
1. read over the paper
2. have your child sing what they wrote
3. sign the paper
4. have your child bring the paper back to the music room for credit.

Here we sit Song Transcription

Greetings!

This week you should see a homework assignment come home from the music room. This is a song transcription assignment where students needed to use previously learned information to complete. It is being used as a diagnostic assessment. Their job was to write down the solfege for the song "here we sit" and then sing it and finally place the notes on the stafflines.

Please:
1. have your child perform it for you with light voice with words

2. have your child perform the song in high/low language

3. sign the paper

4. make sure your student returns it to the music room for credit.
